Calon Wen is a co-operative venture between family-run farms across Wales. They have become Wales’ leading Organic Dairy company, with an impressive range of award-winning dairy products that are becoming available across the globe.

Their farms are notable because their herds graze on clover-rich pastures for most of the year, spending as much time out in the fields as they can. They also pride themselves on treating their farmers equitably, their animals ethically, and their land and surrounding environments sustainably.

Calon Wen is a fast-growing UK business that has enjoyed a double-digit turnover increase in the last three years. They currently supply all the major UK retailers, including Tesco, Morrisons, Ocado, Asda and Waitrose, as well as a range of other distributors.

Internationally, the company currently exports to the Middle East and Hong Kong through two distributors. They have invested so as to be export-ready, and their Froyo and UHT product lines are ready with dual English-Arabic labelling.

THE CHALLENGE_______

Calon Wen wanted to penetrate the Qatar market with their export-ready products. They were looking for distributors or consolidators to facilitate their entry into this competitive retail sector. In addition, because all their products were also available in food service formats this was also a valuable potential target market.

They were looking to hold high-quality meetings with retail buyers, food service chain buyers, and similar, in order to gauge interest and assess competitiveness. They had a particular interest in meeting with retailers who had an Organic or sustainability focus.

THE SOLUTION________

Calon Wen was able to leverage the large volumes of high-quality data available via the AladdinB2B database to generate high-quality leads, precisely targeted within its key sectors.

Using this powerful tool, SalesMENA was then able to set up partnership meetings with key decision-makers. This enabled the company's Business Development Manager, Mr Stuart McNally, to make a highly focused trip to Qatar and achieve tangible results.

A total of 50 high-quality leads were generated and offered to the client for approval.
